Don’t Believe the Hype

Just like almost every shooting before the shooting in Thousand Oaks, everyone comes out of the woodworks giving their “expert” opinions on the matter, focusing on minuscule details and spewing incorrect information.

Chelsea Clinton tweeted that this was the “307th Mass Shooting” in the country this year, which makes one believe that there has been 307 active shooter attacks in this country this year. That is simply not the case.

The F.B.I. considers a mass shooting to be any act of violence where 4 or more people have been killed. This includes gang violence, targeted murder, and terrorism. So, by definition, a gang member could shoot and kill 4 other gang members in the parking lot of a school in a drive-by type shooting, and “they” would consider that both a Mass Shooting and a School Shooting. Which only serves to mislead the American Public.
