Combat Shooting

The Combat Shooting course is designed to develop defensive & reactive shooting skills in order to better protect yourself in a deadly force encounter when using a pistol or rifle for self defense, while considering stress, movement, shooting while injured, short distances to the threat, and reaction time. The class will cover topics such as stance/grip, natural point of aim, reload drills, malfunctions, moving and shooting, use of force and use of cover.

A competent understanding of pistol and rifle manipulation/shooting is recommended as this is NOT a basic weapons handling class. We will be doing a lot of shooting!

What To Expect:

The training starts promptly at 10:00 AM (rain or shine). We have a lot to cover and a lot of rounds to send downrange so there will be no dedicated lunch break, but we will take short breaks throughout. Participants should wear comfortable clothing that protects from the elements and closed toe shoes. A pistol and compatible holster, magazines, approximately 300 rounds of pistol ammunition, and eye/ear protection are required for training. Participants may bring a rifle and approximately 200 rounds of rifle ammunition if they wish to participate in the rifle shooting portion of the class.

There is no seating available at the range. Pop-Up tents for shade will be available but be prepared to be in the sun for a majority of the class. Snacks and ammunition are available for purchase (bring cash) from the range provider, but we recommend that you bring water + food/lunch. Eye protection can be provided upon request. Gloves, hat, folding lawn chair, sunblock, at least 3 pistol magazines and 2 rifles magazines are highly recommended.
